Become a camp counselor at our summer day camps for PreK-4th graders! Our camps provide opportunities for boys and girls of all abilities to explore, grow, create, and learn through a wide array of engaging programs. Counselors help campers enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities which involve team building, music, science, art, & recreation. Currently, Downside Up is one of the few organizations in our area providing summer camps for campers of all abilities.

Job Description:
Downside Up is seeking a part-time summer camp counselor to help lead our inclusive summer camp program. The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, and passionate about working with youth of all abilities. This is a part-time position, with varying hours depending on the week, but typically requiring 20-25 hours per week. The summer camp runs for six weeks from June to August.
Responsibilities:
Lead sensory activities, science projects, arts and crafts, music, and nature/garden programs for youth of all abilities.
Assist with the development of new program ideas and adapt existing programs to be inclusive for all youth.
Provide guidance and support to campers as they participate in activities and navigate social interactions.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times.
Foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive camp environment for all campers and staff.
Collaborate with other camp counselors and staff to create a cohesive and engaging camp experience.
Qualifications:
Experience working with youth of all abilities, including those with developmental disabilities, is preferred.
Ability to plan and lead engaging and inclusive activities and programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with other camp counselors and staff.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Compensation:
This is a paid part-time position with a competitive hourly rate. Additionally, counselors will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with youth of all abilities and learn about adapting programs to meet the needs of diverse populations.
